Publications and Resources

All of BPE's publications are written and designed to explain the work of reform and to provide information that will be of use to the reader.

  • School Clips - A monthly update of school reform work in Boston
. The e-newsletter goes to 5,000+ corporate and civic leaders, as well as to principals, teachers, and other district staff.
(School Clips is currently undergoing revision and will be back in 2010.)
  • Focus - A newsletter produced with the Boston Public Schools.
Originally, "Focus" was intended to convey the research behind the district's reform design, known as Whole-School Improvement, and clarify expectations. Topics have included literacy, effective practices, professional development, use of time, and standards and curriculum.

  • BPE Reports - Research findings, evaluations, and descriptions of the process of whole-school improvement in Boston and progress made
.
  • Data tools - Quick, easy-to-use, formative assessment tools in reading comprehension (FAST-R), and the Compositive Learning Index (CLI) that help schools target students who are off track for promotion and graduation.
  • Guides - Companion materials for implementing whole-school improvement activities in schools and districts.
  • Videos - Demonstrating strong practices in teaching and professional development.
